Gordon Hamm, the Chief Operating Officer at EKG Security, has played a pivotal role in the company’s operational strategy. With a robust background in the security industry and military service, Gordon’s leadership has been integral to EKG’s rapid growth and ability to adapt to industry changes.
His observations are noted below.
Cumbersome and Inefficient Software was Hindering Operations
Before adopting Celayix, EKG Security relied on an alternative ERP software solution. The software was outdated, cumbersome and inefficient.
The tedious, click-heavy report generation process, combined with a lack of filtering options, made basic tasks feel like a monumental effort.
One of the biggest fallbacks was that their process was antiquated. It was very old, had no GUI, and was just tedious. And it was click after click after click to get to a report.
And when you got the report, there was no way to filter the report. So, it was like 900 pages of reports, and I had to go to the very end to get a final summary report, which is all I really care about.
The Value of Customization and Industry-Specific Functionality
Gordon investigated other software providers. While these platforms might offer more features, they lack the specific functionality needed for the security industry. Celayix’s custom-built security industry features were critical to their decision to adopt the platform.
He was particularly impressed with the analytics, a key differentiator in their decision to switch. The ability to perform weekly cost-benefit analysis has become an invaluable tool for optimizing their operations. EKG can drill down into specific employee attendance data, enabling them to pinpoint inefficiencies and make adjustments that lead to real cost savings.
The biggest selling feature for me when I made my decision was the analytics.
For Gordon, the ability to see detailed data, such as the number of minutes employees are late, has had a profound impact on their bottom line. This kind of visibility would have been nearly impossible with their previous software.
For example, every week we do a cost-benefit analysis. I have 400 employees this week, and I can see that one of them was 5 minutes late. But then I could look and see how many others were five minutes late as well. And when you add that up, it’s like, wow, that’s a lot of money we’re losing by people not showing up to work. So, you can go in and adjust. I’m a huge fan of that.
Positive Experience with Scheduling Features
EKG’s team also liked the intuitive and highly flexible scheduling functionality. With features like drag-and-drop scheduling, creating templates, and the ability to copy previous schedules, the process has become much more efficient. This also ensures that EKG can tailor their scheduling needs to their unique demands.
Gordon has also praised the app for employees, noting its seamless integration with payroll and other systems. The app’s user-friendly design makes it easy for both managers and employees to stay on top of their shifts.
Streamlined Workflows and Smart Analytics Result in Significant Time Savings
The streamlined processes have allowed for significant time savings, particularly in scheduling and report generation. The things that’d take three days now take one.
The efficiencies have been crucial for EKG as it continues to scale its operations. They’ve adopted a more data-driven approach to security management. This should continue to improve operational oversight and empower employees to work more efficiently.
Gordon is highly attuned to the future of the security industry, with a clear vision of how technology will play a pivotal role in shaping it. Innovations such as biometric facial recognition, drones, and AI-driven analytics will become integral to modern security services. Security demands will become more complex, and EKG must develop or leverage cutting-edge technology to remain competitive.
He sees Celayix’s ecosystem as a crucial part of EKG’s growth strategy. The tool will help streamline operations, improve decision-making, and offer greater flexibility to adapt to these technological shifts. Gordon envisions Celayix not only supporting EKG’s current workforce management needs but also evolving alongside the company to meet the future demands of the security industry.
A Fully Integrated Security Ecosystem
Gordon has a vision for a system that combines multiple technologies, from HR to scheduling and analytics. He believes that combining these technologies will create a more efficient, proactive security service for EKG’s clients.
Many of these innovations are already available. Direct integrations connect recruiting, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and payroll into a single automated flow—reduce manual work, cut costs, and ensure every shift is covered.
Celayix’s development of PTO tracking and reporting features offers exactly what Gordon is looking for: real-time visibility into PTO data. This will allow him to make better decisions when managing his workforce. He sees this functionality as essential in freeing up time to focus on more strategic elements of security operations.
Training is another area Gordon wants to address. While some staff members are highly tech-savvy, others struggle with adopting new systems. He believes in the importance of continuous, structured training. This is akin to the academies seen in other software platforms.
“I want to create an ecosystem where ongoing training is a part of our culture,” says Gordon. “Celayix University would be the perfect place to do that. It needs to be comprehensive, ensuring that every team member, regardless of their tech proficiency, is equipped to use the system effectively.”
Celayix’s training package and user-friendly interface help bridge this gap, ensuring that EKG’s workforce is always prepared for the next wave of technological innovations.
Innovation in Security Technology and Guard Management
Both EKG and Celayix are looking ahead for better ways to operate at peak efficiency and compliance.
For example, EKG’s fleet and drone technology could be directly integrated with client schedules with scheduled patrols, real-time updates, and compliance updates built in. The company’s remote monitoring and verification systems could also be integrated. Data-driven analytics could proactively monitor threats and deploy resources more effectively.
As EKG continues to adopt cutting-edge technologies, Celayix will help simplify its management. EKG will be able to maintain compliance and update client schedules in real time. Customizable scheduling system and data-driven insights will allow Gordon and his team to optimize resources.
With modern workforce management solutions, EKG is redefining how security firms manage their workforce, enhance the client experience, and achieve operational excellence.
