The Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA) had been using their existing scheduling software for over 10 years. However it was no longer able to meet their growing needs. Some of the main challenges they faced were the inability to:
- Create a schedule many weeks in advance
- Make batch changes to the schedule, increasing the chances of manual errors being made
These challenges led to the search for a new solution. Their existing scheduling software recommended they explore the Celayix solution.
Working with Celayix, MoMA was able to achieve their key requirements in a new solution:
- Make batch changes to schedules in an automated way eliminating keystroke errors and saving admin hours
- Customize the solution to match what was required under the union contract
- Create schedule templates ahead of time and save the templates allowing the week to week scheduling to be done several weeks in advance
- Celayix provided confidence that the software would be continually updated and would incorporate future changes in the marketplace

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an art museum founded in 1929 and located in New York City. MoMA is dedicated to being the foremost museum of modern art in the world and to achieve this commitment, it establishes, preserves, and documents a permanent collection of modern and contemporary art. MoMA’s collection offers an overview of modern and contemporary art, including works of architecture and design, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist’s books, film, and electronic media. Celayix is used to schedule the security officer team charged with protecting the facilities.
MoMA came to realize that their existing scheduling solution could no longer meet their growing needs and began a search for a replacement.
The main objective they had when looking for a new solution was to find a solution that could allow them to create and save templates, allow for scheduling many weeks in advance, and allow for batch updates to be done. Additionally they wanted software that was easy to use and to work with a company that would be committed to releasing new updates. After a robust search involving multiple vendors, Celayix Software was chosen.
One of the main challenges presented to each of the vendors was the need to match existing presentation guidelines set out by their union contract. During the demo and subsequent evaluation process, Celayix was able to demonstrate that the software could be customized and that they would be able to meet these requirements. In addition, Celayix was responsive to any questions raised during the sales and evaluation process and patient during the implementation process.
